Friedrich Molter (librarian)

Friedrich Molter (born November 3, 1775 in Karlsruhe , † November 1, 1842 ibid ) was a German librarian and from 1817 to 1842 head of the court library in Karlsruhe.

Life

Friedrich Molter was a son of Friedrich Valentin Molter . From 1801 Friedrich Molter worked at the court library in Karlsruhe, in 1817 he was appointed court librarian. During his tenure, the Grand Duchy of Baden issued the first statutory deposit regulation of 1825. He described the court library and in 1837 estimated its size at 70,000 prints and 1,000 manuscripts.
