Friedrich Rebers
Friedrich Rebers (born June 3, 1929 in Bremen ; † December 12, 2001 in Bremen) was a German savings bank director, a Bremen politician ( SPD , AfB ) and president of the Bremen Citizens Park Association .
biography
Rebers was the son of a carpenter. He grew up with his grandmother and attended secondary school in Bremen's old town. He was married to Erika Rebers. Both had two children: Annette Rebers-Holze and Ulrich Rebers.
Sparkasse Bremen
From 1945 to 1947 he completed an apprenticeship at the Sparkasse Bremen . In 1957 he received the power of attorney at the Sparkasse and then the power of attorney as a department director. In 1971 he became a member of the board of directors and from 1974 to 1995 he was the successor to Rolf Speckmann as chairman of the board of the Sparkasse. He was followed in 1995 as head of the Sparkasse Jürgen Oltmann.
Memberships
Rebers was a member of the Bürgerparkverein Bremen . As the successor to Friedrich Selchert, Rebers was President of the Park Association from 1981 to 1998; he was followed by Heinz-Werner Hempel. Rebers was honorary president of the association after 1997. He was a co-founder and sponsor of the annual citizens' park tombola in Bremen.
He also belonged to a large number of cultural and park associations, for example the Rotary Club in Bremen.
politics
In the 1960s / 70s he became a member of the SPD. He left the party - also due to the coalition of the SPD with the Greens in Bremen - and in 1995 founded a voter association called Arbeit für Bremen und Bremerhaven (AfB), which existed until 2002. This community of voters became a pool of dissatisfied former SPD members of the right wing of the party, but also of many committed citizens who had not previously belonged to any party. In the 1995 election for Bremen's citizenship , under his leadership, the AfB won 10.7% of the vote and 12 members of parliament for the 14th electoral period . Mayor Klaus Wedemeier (SPD) resigned because of the poor election result. His successor Henning Scherf (SPD) did not form a coalition with Rebers and the AfB, but a grand coalition with the CDU . Friedrich Rebers, Elke Kröning and Andreas Lojewski became parliamentary group spokesmen for the AfB . A stroke (around 1998) brought Rebers' work to a surprising end. In the 1999 general election , the AfB was only able to achieve 2.4% of the votes without its popular top candidate; she received no mandate in the citizenry, but only a few seats on the advisory boards .
Honors
In particular because of his activity for the Bürgerpark, he has received several awards:
- 1991 with the Silver Hemisphere of the German National Committee for Monument Protection
- 1998 with the Senate Medal for Art and Science of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen
