The general election in Bremen in 1999 was the 15th election for citizenship in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen . It took place on June 6, 1999 .

Result

The turnout was 60.1 percent.

The parties of the ruling grand coalition , the SPD and the CDU, were both able to gain a share of the vote and continued their alliance under Henning Scherf (SPD). The electoral community Work for Bremen and Bremerhaven no longer moved into the citizenship and subsequently dissolved. The German People's Union was able to pass the five percent hurdle in the Bremerhaven electoral area, but not in the Bremen electoral area, and therefore received a mandate.
