State election in Bremen 1971
The state election in Bremen in 1971 was the eighth election to the state parliament in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen . It took place on October 10, 1971 .
Result
The turnout was 80.0 percent. In this election, Hans Koschnick (SPD), who had replaced Willy Dehnkamp in the office of mayor and Senate President after the last state election , stood for re-election for the first time.
Johann-Tönjes Cassens ran as the top candidate for the CDU .
The SPD , which had ruled alone since July, was able to expand the absolute majority of the seats and continue to govern alone. The DKP , founded in 1968, achieved its best result in its history at state level in this election with 3.1 percent of the votes, but without moving into the citizenship. The NPD , which had received 8.8 percent of the vote and eight seats in the previous election from the stand, retired from the citizenship with 2.8 percent of the votes.
