Friedrich Rentsch
Carl Friedrich Adolf Rentsch (born January 2, 1836 in Dresden ; † November 17, 1899 there ) was a German sculptor , draftsman and professor at the Royal Saxon Polytechnic in Dresden .
Life
Friedrich Rentsch studied from 1855 to 1859 at the Dresden Art Academy and was a master student of Ernst Hähnel . He then worked as a freelance sculptor in Dresden. From 1880 to 1882 he studied drawing with Julius Hübner . In 1882 he taught at a private school in Dresden. In 1873 he was appointed to teach ornament drawing at the Dresden Polytechnic and in 1877 he was appointed associate professor . Due to his achievements, talents and abilities he received in 1888 calling for a full professor at the Royal Saxon Polytechnic Dresden in the Chair raised specialist ornamental and figure drawing. There are or were building sculptures by Rentsch on many buildings in Dresden. For wall paintings and vault paintings, he supplied the templates as commissioned work for various buildings. He lived at Ammonstrasse 13 and later at Strehlener Strasse 13 in Dresden. At the age of 63 he died after a short illness and was buried in the Trinity cemetery.

- 1876: four caryatid women above the proscenium box in the Semperoper
- Large figures of two coat of arms holders on the sandstone city portal of the exhibition building on Brühl's terrace
- Trophies as keystones for the Dresden police building on Schießgasse above the three entrance portals : security guard , justice and criminal
- Vault figures for camera science , technology , trade and traffic at the headquarters of the Saxon State Railroad (later the Deutsche Reichsbahngesellschaft ) Dresden, destroyed in 1945
- 1893: 16 groups of children made of sandstone on the attic of the market hall at Antonsplatz , destroyed in 1951 during the clearing work
- Figures of the four evangelists made of French limestone for the Martin Luther Church in Dresden
- Figure invention made of sandstone for the central building of the TH Dresden on Bismarckplatz , destroyed in 1945
- Group of figures made of sandstone on Fischhofplatz ( Freiberger Platz ) in Dresden
- 1895: Saxonia group as personification of Saxony, science and technology at Dresden Central Station
- Figure of Christ on a marble cross at a church in Meissen
- Figures Valkyrie and Bacchus riding a panther for the Meissen porcelain factory
