Friedrich Riepe

Friedrich "Fritz" Wilhelm Emil Riepe (born July 28, 1893 in Eidinghausen , † March 18, 1968 in Bad Oeynhausen ) was a German engineer and manager of the German steel and mechanical engineering industry .

Life

Born as the son of a farmer, Friedrich Riepe attended secondary school in Bad Oeynhausen, which he left in 1910 with the primary school leaving certificate. After a six-month industrial internship, he studied mechanical engineering at the Arnstadt Polytechnic Institute from the winter semester 1910/1911 to the summer semester 1913 . Here he became a member of the Scientific Gymnastics Club Concordia in 1911 , which later became Corps Brunsviga Hanover. After completing his engineering studies in autumn 1913, he continued his studies at the Technical University of Gdansk .

From the outbreak of the First World War until 1916 he was a soldier in the motor vehicle troops, most recently as Vice Sergeant in the Reserve. From 1916 to 1919 he was a troop engineer in the motor vehicle department in Gdansk .

After retiring from service, Riepe initially worked as a designer in car and engine construction until 1924 . From 1924 to 1927 he was operations director at Magdeburger Maschinenfabrik, from 1927 to 1935 senior engineer and department director at Junkers-Motorenbau Dessau , from 1935 to 1938 technical director at Linke-Hofmann-Busch-Werke in Breslau and from 1938 to 1943 technical director at of Schäffer & Budenberg GmbH in Magdeburg. In 1943 he was appointed to the board of directors of the United Upper Silesian Hüttenwerke AG . At the same time, he was a board member of Baildon-Silesia-Stahl AG and the Laband steel press works in Gliwice until the end of World War II .

After working as a freelance consultant engineer, Riepe became a general representative of the Hoesch family in 1947 . In 1952 he moved to the Otto Wolff Group , where he was Technical Director of Eisenwerk Weserhütte AG and Managing Director of Weserhütte Otto Wolff GmbH in Bad Oeynhausen until 1962 . Friedrich Riepe succumbed to cancer in 1968.

Honorary positions

Until the end of the Second World War, Riepe was Vice President of the Magdeburg-Anhalt Chamber of Commerce, Royal Bulgarian Consul for Central Germany and Curator of the East European and Central German Institute for Economic Research.

After the Second World War he was chairman or board member of numerous trade associations in the mechanical engineering and foundry industries. He was also the curator of the Danube European Institute in Vienna and since 1958 a member of the board of directors of the Hanover University Community.

Honors

  • On July 31, 1958, the Technical University of Hanover named Friedrich Riepe an honorary citizen.
  • The Corps Franco-Guestphalia Cologne honored him with his appointment as an honorary corps boy.
  • The Corps Baltica-Borussia Danzig zu Hannover awarded him the Corpsschleife in 1959 and the ribbon in 1965.
  • Because of his services to the reconstitution in Braunschweig, the Corps Franconia Berlin honored him in 1961 with the appointment of an old man.
