Friedrich Roth-Scholtz , also Rothscholtz, (born September 17, 1687 in Herrnstadt (today: Wąsosz ), † January 15, 1736 in Nuremberg ) was a German bookseller, editor and bibliographer of alchemical literature and publisher.

Roth-Scholtz went to school in Herrnstadt, Steinau an der Oder , Stroppen and Breslau , but had to drop out and in 1699 became an apprentice in the book trade. First he learned in Breslau and from 1704 in Leipzig . There he also attended lectures that were held in the house in which he lived. In 1709 he was in Halle and from 1710 in Nuremberg. In 1716 he became a factor in the recently deceased printer Johann Daniel Tauber. In 1718 he acquired the Neuenhausen store in Nordhausen , and in 1719 he took Benjamin Wedel on as a partner, for whom he opened a shop in Altdorf near Nuremberg , while he himself had a shop in Nuremberg. After receiving the citizenship of Nuremberg, he married the youngest daughter of Tauber, his partner Wedel another daughter of Tauber, and both of them continued Tauber's business (as Tauber's heirs).

He was a great collector of books, but also coins, heraldry and other things and left many books in the university library in Altdorf. He had extensive correspondence and wanted to be regarded as a scholar (since he could not speak Latin, he employed secretaries for it). His collecting activity and expensive printing projects ended up ruining his business.

From him comes a bibliography of alchemical literature (which remained unfinished, Bibliotheca Chemica 1719, 1727, 1735), he published various alchemical authors and the collection of alchemical literature in German translation Deutsches Theatrum Chemicum (1728–1732).

He also sometimes called himself Benjamin Roth-Scholtz as the editor.
