Friedrich Seyler (born December 13,  1642 in Basel ; † January 31,  1708 ibid) (also Friedrich Seiler ; Latin Fridericus Seilerus or Fridericus Seylerus ) was a Swiss Reformed pastor and theologian from Basel.

He studied philosophy and theology at the University of Basel from 1656, received his master's degree in 1660 and was ordained in 1665. From 1669–1671 he was court preacher in Blotzheim , 1671–1690 deacon to St. Theodor , 1690–1704 deacon and 1704–1708 pastor at St. Peter's Church .

He is best known for his work Anabaptista Larvatus , A History of Anabaptism and the main argument against it. The first part of the work (182 pages) contains a history of Anabaptism influenced by Heinrich Bullinger and Johann Heinrich Ottius , the second part (510 pages) a defense of the dogmatic tenets disputed by the Anabaptists from the perspective of Reformed theology.

He was the son of the pastor and rector of the Basel grammar school, Magister Friedrich Seyler (1603–1676), and was married to Elisabeth Socin, daughter of the politician Abel Socin and niece of the mayor Emanuel Socin . He was the grandfather of the theater director Abel Seyler .
