Friedrich Tappenbeck

Friedrich Gerhard Tappenbeck (born July 9, 1820 in Oldenburg ; † September 20, 1893 there ) was a German politician and Minister of Justice of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg .

Life

Tappenbeck came from a family originally from Fallersleben and resident in the Mark Brandenburg since the 18th century . His grandfather the merchant Johann Friedrich Tappenbeck (1744-1824) came to Oldenburg in 1784, where the family soon took up some important positions in the civil service of Oldenburg.

Tappenbeck was the son of the businessman Ernst Friedrich Tappenbeck (1792–1823). He attended grammar school in Oldenburg and then studied law at the universities of Heidelberg , Berlin and Göttingen . After completing his studies, he joined the state service of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg as an auditor and worked in this role in Burhave , Eutin and Damme . He was also politically active during this time and was a member of the Oldenburg state parliament from 1849 to 1851

In 1851 Tappenbeck became a regional court assessor in Ovelgönne , in 1853 he moved to Delmenhorst in the same position . In 1856 he worked as a laborer at the Oldenburg Higher Appeal Court and in 1858 he was transferred to Varel as a high court assessor and public prosecutor . His other promotions were then those to the High Court Council in 1862, to the Appeals Council in 1865 and to the Higher Appeal Council in 1872. In 1876 he became a member of the Evangelical High School College, which he chaired a year later. On January 18, 1878, Tappenbeck became a member of the Oldenburg State Ministry as a Privy Councilor of State . As the successor to Wilhelm Mutzenbecher, he took over the departments of justice as well as the churches and schools and officially received the title of minister in 1880. Seven years later, on April 17, 1887, he was put on hold and retired on October 1, 1890.

Since 1843 he belonged to the literary and sociable association of Oldenburg.

Tappenbeck married Wendeline Ernestine Sophie born in 1853. von Lindelof (1834–1921), the daughter of the Chief Justice Council and bailiff Heinrich von Lindelof (1793–1878) and niece of Friedrich von Lindelof (1794–1882), Prime Minister of Darmstadt . She was also largely related to Bernhard Dietrich von Wardenburg , who, as the progenitor of the Wardenburg family, was also the ancestor of numerous Oldenburg officials and pastors. The couple had five children of whom Karl Tappenbeck (1858–1941) became Lord Mayor of Oldenburg and their daughter Alida Tappenbeck (1864–1953) married the Oldenburg Minister Otto Graepel (1857–1924).
