Friedrich Wailand
Friedrich Wailand (born July 16, 1821 in Drasenhofen , † April 8, 1904 in Vienna ) was an Austrian miniature painter .
Life
He was born as the son of Friedrich Wailands, toll controller on Brünner Straße in Drasenhofen. Friedrich Wailand studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and was a student of Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller . He continued his studies in Italy and France. From 1859 he lived in Vienna. From 1861 a member of the Austrian Society of Fine Artists . He was expelled in 1865 for unpaid contributions, but was reinstated two years later. He worked as a miniature painter and portraitist for upscale Viennese society, the aristocracy and the imperial family . In the last years of his life he received financial support from the Society of Fine Artists.
