Friedrich Wilhelm Banneitz , also Fritz Banneitz (born September 11, 1885 in Hameln , † December 5, 1940 in Dresden ) was a German electrical engineer and physicist. His merits include the development and dissemination of television technology and the start of the first television broadcasting operations.

Career

Friedrich Wilhelm Banneitz initially studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt . After successfully completing his degree in 1908, he deepened his theoretical knowledge by studying physics at the Universities of Heidelberg and Leipzig , where in 1919, after a long break due to his deployment in the First World War , he did a thesis on the measurement of the dielectric constants of mixed bodies with the help of PhD on a resonance method for capacity measurements .

Banneitz then entered the service of the Deutsche Reichspost . Friedrich Wilhelm Banneitz died in 1940 at the age of 75, two years after he was separated from his life's work, television, when he was appointed Vice President of the Reichspostdirektion in Dresden. His grave is in the south-west cemetery of Stahnsdorf , Potsdam-Mittelmark district , in garden block V, election point 280.
