Friedrich Wilhelm Eichholz
Friedrich Wilhelm Eichholz (pseudonym Drymantes ; born February 18, 1720 in Halberstadt ; died there on May 15, 1800 ) was a German poet, lawyer and chamber director.
Life
Eichholz first studied theology and then law in Halle and began a civil service career in 1745 as a magistrate and actuary at the major in Halberstadt. In 1748 he became senior salt inspector of the Principality of Halberstadt and in 1752 royal war and domain councilor . In 1787 Eichholz became the first director of the War and Domain Chamber in Halberstadt .
Eichholz is important today for his poetic work, some of which appeared under a pseudonym. These include the shepherd's game Der Leichtsinnige (1747) in six-lobed , pair - rhymed iambs , A small volume full of all kinds of things (1755) with partly comical, partly erotic poetry and short prose and the conversation between a European and an islander from the kingdom of Dümocala (1755), where it in conversation with a Brahmin who lives on an island in the Indian Ocean in an ideal state, about how a wise and enlightened state wisdom can be achieved and a corresponding state model can be designed. In these writings, Eichholz shows himself to be an educated, well-read author with knowledge of war, justice and finance as well as theology. In 1784 he published a biography of the fable poet and legal scholar Magnus Gottfried Lichtwer , with whom he was friends. From 1785 he wrote numerous scholarly and local history articles for the Halberstädtische non-profit papers , as well as the Berlin Monthly Journal and the German Monthly Journal .

- ↑ The majorei was originally an office connected with its own jurisdiction for the administration of the episcopal table goods in Halberstadt and the surrounding area. In 1648 the diocese was secularized and subordinated to the Electorate of Brandenburg , from 1662 the office was leased from the city, and in 1808 the majorei was abolished. Cf. Cathedral Capitular Office of the Majorei Halberstadt in LA Saxony-Anhalt.
