Friedrich Wilhelm Kunike

Friedrich Wilhelm Kunike (* 1778 in Greifswald ; † 1859 there ) was a German printer and painter.

His father was probably Adolf Eberhard Kunike, typist and mathematician at the Greifswald City School. In 1816 he became an academic printer at Greifswalder Knopfstraße 35. Kunike printed works by Friedrich Ludwig Hünefeld , Friedrich Ludwig von Medem and Friedrich Wilhelm von Schubert , among others . He also published the Greifswaldische academische Zeitschrift .

In 1859, his son Helmuth took over his father's print shop.

His son Theodor (1819–27 May 1864) became the owner of the CA Koch publishing house on July 28, 1846 (founded in 1821). Its authors included Fritz Reuter and Alwine Wuthenow . After Theodor Kunike's death, Ludwig Bamberg, owner of the council bookstore of the same name since 1837, took over the management of the publishing house.

Friedrich Wilhelm Kunike was also active as a painter and stayed several times on Rügen for studies . In the Museum Stralsund there are pictures of him.

Friedrich Wilhelm Kunikes brother Adolph Friedrich (1877-1838) had opened a lithographic institute in Vienna in 1817 .
