John Wojciechowski (born November 9, 1973 in Mount Clemens , Michigan ) is an American jazz musician ( tenor saxophone , composition ).

John Wojciechowski grew up in Detroit; his father was a steel worker and jazz organist (as an amateur musician). At the age of eight he received music lessons and soon chose the alto saxophone , but also learned the flute and clarinet . He graduated from Western Michigan University ; Between 1993 and 1995 he made his first recordings with the Western Michigan University Jazz Orchestra , including his own compositions. In 1996 he was a finalist in the Thelonious Monk competition . Since 2002 he has lived in Chicago, where he teaches at a high school. He was also active there in the formations Bottomed Out, Chicago Jazz Orchestra, Jacob Sacks Quintet, New Standard Jazz Orchestra, Chicago Yestet ( Jazz is Politics? ) And in the Tom Matta Big Band . After a first self-published album ( Lexicon ), which was created between 2006 and 2008, he released the album Focus on Origin Records in 2015 , which he recorded with Ryan Cohan, Dennis Carroll and Dana Hall. In the field of jazz he was involved in 19 recording sessions between 1993 and 2015.
