Friedrich Wilhelm von Arnim - (Boitzenburg) (born December 31, 1739 in Berlin ; † January 21, 1801 there ) was a Prussian civil servant and minister of war .

Friedrich Wilhelm von Arnim came from the Boitzenburg line of this widespread Uckermark noble family. He was married to Freda Antoinette von Cramm .

After studying law in Göttingen, he began his career in the Prussian civil service as a councilor at the Berlin Court of Justice. In 1764 he became councilor and assessor at the Uckermark Supreme Court, in 1769 he was a secret judicial councilor and director of the Pupillenkollegium and the Uckermark Supreme Court, which he chaired until 1780.

From 1776 he was also employed as a vice director of the Kurmärkischen landscape. In 1786 he was appointed Real Secret Budget, War and Governing Minister and Vice President of the General Directory.

Arnim was raised to the hereditary Prussian count on October 2, 1786 by King Friedrich Wilhelm II . He was also a Knight of the Red Eagle Order .

He also became president of the forestry department and chief hunter. In these two offices he made lasting contributions to the promotion of forestry and agriculture in Prussia. From 1786 to 1798 he was the royal Prussian state and war minister. In 1798 he said goodbye for health reasons. He belonged to the Berlin Freemasons lodge Zum flammenden Stern .
