Friedrich von Pelkowsky

Friedrich von Pelkowsky (born April 20, 1705 Jucha, Oletzko district; † October 22, 1786 in Kolberg ) was a royal Prussian major general and chief of infantry regiment No. 4 as well as commander of the Kolberg fortress and holder of the order Pour le Mérite .

Life

His father was Johann von Pelkowsky , heir to Alt-Jucha and Neu-Jucha in the Oletzkow office. In 1722 F. came to the Berlin cadet institute . Two years later, von Pelkowsky was an ensign in Infantry Regiment No. 1 , where he also became an ensign in 1732. In 1736 he became second lieutenant, 1740 premier lieutenant, 1747 staff captain and in 1749 a real captain. Nine years later he became major in 1758.

In the three Silesian Wars he fought in the battles near Mollwitz , Hohenfriedberg , Roßbach , Leuthen , Liegnitz and Torgau . He was wounded in the battle of Prague . He was also present at the sieges of Brieg, Neisse, Prague, Olmütz, Dresden, Breslau and Schweidnitz.

During the Seven Years' War he was busy collecting contributions . He always stayed within the scope of his regulations and ensured discipline among his troops, which was widely recognized. In 1764 he was appointed commander of the regiment. In 1765 he became a lieutenant colonel and in 1767 a colonel. In January 1768 he received the order Pour le Mérite . On May 21, 1774 he was appointed chief of regiment No. 4 , in addition he received the rank of major general with the patent from June 4, 1774. In 1781 he was additionally appointed commander of the Kolberg Fortress . There he died unmarried on October 22, 1786.
