Friedrich von Stosch

Friedrich von Stosch (* 1689 in Berlin ; † February 9, 1752 in Insterburg ) was a Prussian major general , chief of the dragoon regiment of the same name, and governor of Rein in East Prussia and a knight of the order Pour le Mérite .

Life

origin

His parents were the royal Prussian privy councilor Wilhelm Heinrich von Stosch († May 20, 1714). and his wife Dorothea Luise Schröder .

Military career

Stosch was initially in the service of Savoy and switched to Prussian in 1718 . He came to the "von Roëll" dragoon regiment and was promoted to colonel by July 1741 . In May 1744, Stosch was promoted to major general with a patent from October 29, 1743 and appointed chief of Dragoon Regiment No. 8 , that that year formed from five squadrons of the Dragoon Regiment "von Roëll".

In 1750, King Friedrich II appointed him governor of Rein in East Prussia, and he received two riding horses from the king. In 1751 he was retired with a salary of 1000 thalers.

He fought in Italy and on the Rhine, as well as in the battles of Chotusitz and Kesselsdorf . From there he went to the camp near Mettin on June 27, 1745. He died in Insterburg in 1752.
