Friedrich von Thelen-Rüden (born February 28, 1836 in Ljubljana , † August 6, 1900 in Kammer / Attersee ) was an Austrian portrait and genre painter and court actor.

Life

Friedrich von Thelen-Rüden studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Karl von Blaas , Carl Wurzinger and Johann Nepomuk Geiger . From 1859 he exhibited at numerous exhibitions in Vienna. From 1861 he became a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus .

He also turned to the stage as an actor from 1864. He first appeared in a youthful amateur role at the Theater an der Wien and made his debut in 1871 as Oskar Steinhausen in Hackländer's “The Secret Agent” at the Hofburgtheater . In 1890 he received the decree as a real court actor and celebrated his 25th anniversary in 1896. In 1899 he fell seriously ill, and in 1900 his request for retirement was granted.

Friedrich von Thelen-Rüden could no longer enjoy his retirement, he died on August 6, 1900 after a nervous disease and a stroke in his house in Kammer am Attersee. He left a widow and five grown children. The funeral service took place on August 10th in Vienna, where he was buried in the Matzleinsdorf cemetery .
