history

The company was founded in 1926 by Alois Fritsch in Wiese near Jägerndorf in what was then Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic). At that time, the company was developing and manufacturing agricultural machines and accessories. In 1948 the company was re-established in Markt Einersheim after the Second World War . Four years later, in 1952, machines and systems for bakeries were added to the range. In addition, Adolf Fritsch, the son of Alois Fritsch, joined the company. In 1954, Fritsch developed the Rollfix dough sheeter , which was further automated in the following years and expanded with additional devices. In 1960 Adolf Fritsch became managing director. Nine years later, Fritsch started in the US market and also founded its own iron and metal foundry in Wiesentheid .

In the 1970s, work in bakeries was increasingly automated and Fritsch brought the AT Varioline preparation table onto the market. With the newly developed satellite head for laminating systems, Fritsch introduced the soft-processing concept in 1979 , which was supposed to ensure gentle dough treatment. In 1981, Fritsch added deep-freeze technology for bakers to its delivery program and presented the first automatic Rollfix . A year later, the company entered the French and UK markets. In the same year, the new Croissantomat 2000 was the first machine in the world to produce croissants in all sizes. In 1987 Fritsch developed a modular concept for large industrial lines ( Impressa ).

In 1989 Klaus Fritsch joined the management team alongside his father Adolf. In the same year, in addition to the Impressa bread for the industrial production of Mediterranean special breads , the first electronically controlled Rollfix and the Euroline pastry line came onto the market. In 1992 the company founded the Fritsch Technology Center with a demonstration bakery. Four years later, in 1996, Adolf Fritsch handed over the management to his son Klaus Fritsch, the subsidiary in the USA was founded and the Laminator 3000 dough lamination line as well as the Easyline pastry line and the CTR system for wrapped pastries came onto the market.

Two further subsidiaries were added in 1997. Fritsch UK and Fritsch BTT, which specializes in project business, were founded. The system manufacturer entered the international turnkey project business with the establishment of Fritsch BTT . In 1998, the Fritsch sales company responsible for sales was founded. In addition, the CSTR system for industrial croissant production came onto the market in the same year. After many years of development, the automatic pretzel twister Multitwist with an hourly output of 16,000 pretzels and more came onto the market in 1999 . Since then, Fritsch has been the world market leader in the field of industrial pretzel production. In 1999 Fritsch Italia was also founded.

In 2002 the Multiline for the space-saving production of ribbons from all kinds of dough came onto the market. In 2003 , Fritsch presented the Multicut , a reconditioning machine with a punching and turning process. On April 16, 2019, the company had to file for bankruptcy at the responsible local court in Würzburg. On July 3, 2019, it was announced that the packaging specialist, Multivac Sepp Haggenmüller from Wolfertschwenden in Bavaria and Swabia , would like to take over the company, but without land and buildings.
