Fritz Bauer Prize
The Fritz Bauer Prize of the Humanist Union was founded in 1968 in memory of its co-founder Fritz Bauer , the long-time attorney general of Hesse and socially committed lawyer. With this award, the Humanist Union honors “services to the humanization, liberalization and democratization of the legal system”. Women and men are honored, "uncomfortable and the dauntless of justice and humanity enforce".
In 2014, Federal Minister of Justice Heiko Maas donated the “Fritz Bauer Study Prize for Human Rights and Contemporary Legal History” for doctoral theses in law that deal with Fritz Bauer, his work or his life issues. It is awarded every two years by the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection.
