Fritz Bachmann (soccer player)
Fritz Bachmann (born January 20, 1921 ) was a soccer player and soccer coach in the GDR . As a trainer, he won the GDR Cup with SC Dynamo Berlin .
After the Second World War, Bachmann became a member of the East German People's Police and initially played for the “Weimar People's Police ” sports club . With her he became the Thuringian soccer champion in 1951 and played in the second-rate GDR league from summer 1951 . In the spring of 1953, the sports club was relocated to Erfurt , where Bachmann also ended his career as an active football player.
Bachmann began his coaching career in 1955 at the central police sports association Dynamo . In 1957 he was assistant coach to Istvan Orczifalvi for two years at the top club of SV Dynamo, SC Dynamo Berlin. This had just relegated from the GDR league to the second division, but achieved immediate resurgence with Bachmann's assistance. At the beginning of the 1959 season, Bachmann assumed sole responsibility for the dynamo team, which he led to their best position to date in third place and into the cup final. The Berlin team won the cup final in the replay 3-2 over SC Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt . After a disappointing start to the 1960 season, Bachmann was replaced by János Gyarmati during the season .
Bachmann was transferred to GDR league club Dynamo Hohenschönhausen in 1961 , where he later only worked as a coach for the second team. In 1966 Dynamo Hohenschönhausen was incorporated as the 2nd team in the newly founded Berlin FC Dynamo (BFC) , the successor club to the soccer section of SC Dynamo, so that Bachmann returned to his Berlin home base. BFC II initially played in the third-rate district league , and in 1968, under Bachmann's leadership, they were promoted to the GDR league.
Between 1971 and 1972 Bachmann moved up once again to the position of assistant coach of the 1st BFC team under Hans Geitel . Together with him he looked after the BFC in the GDR Cup final on June 2, 1971 , which the Berliners lost, however, 1: 2 to the Dynamo rivals from Dresden.
