After a fifth place in 2008 and a sixth place in 2009, Rudar Pljevlja won his first championship title in the 2009/10 season, a 2-0 in the cup final against Budućnost Podgorica made the double perfect. As champions, the team qualified for the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League . There the club prevailed in the first round against Società Polisportiva Tre Fiori , the representative of San Marino , with 3-0 and 4-1. In the second round he was eliminated after two defeats (0: 1 and 0: 4) against the Bulgarian champions Litex Lovech .

In the 2010/11 league season, Rudar Pljevlja finished third, well behind master Mogren Budva and runner-up Budućnost Podgorica. In contrast, the title in the cup was defended by a 5: 4 on penalties in the final against Mogren Budva, after it had been 1: 1 after regular time and 2: 2 after extra time. In the 2011/12 season Rudar Pljevlja was both runner-up and second in the cup.
