history
Football in Yugoslavia
Budućnost Podgorica was founded in Podgorica in 1925 and received blue and white as the club's colors. In Yugoslavia they were an integral part of the first football league . The two lost finals in the Yugoslav Cup were the club's greatest successes. In 1965 they lost 2-1 to Dinamo Zagreb and in 1977 they lost 2-0 to Hajduk Split . In the days of Yugoslavia it was not enough for a championship title, one was always in the shadow of the bigger clubs, especially that of Red Star and Partizan from the capital Belgrade . Budućnost Podgorica often ended up in the middle of the table at that time. The club took part in the UEFA Intertoto Cup twice. In 1995 they were eliminated against Bayer 04 Leverkusen . In 2005 they were defeated by Deportivo La Coruña . They won the second leg at home with 2-1, but in the first leg in La Coruña it was 3-0 for Deportivo.

The home game in the stadium pod Goricom ended in a draw 1: 1, in Split they lost 0: 1. This led to riots between the two fan camps. In the cup final of 2008 they met Mogren Budva . The final was lost in a thrilling final 6: 7 on ref. Budućnost Podgorica led 1-0 up to the 84th minute. On the 32nd and penultimate round of the 2007/08 season, Budućnost Podgorica secured their first championship title with a 4-0 win over Dečić Tuzi . The club took part in the qualifying round for the 2008/09 Champions League.
In the 2008/09 season, the Plavo-bjeli ("The Blue-Whites") took part in the qualifying round for the Champions League. The opponent there was the Finnish representative Tampere United . You just failed. They lost 1: 2 in Tampere . At home it was only enough to draw 1-1. The 2009/10 season ended in second place behind Rudar Pljevlja. In the cup final they were also left behind against this team. Also in the following season Budućnost could not meet expectations. With 73 points, equal on points with Mogren Budva, but with the worse direct comparison, the season ended again only as runner-up. In addition, they were eliminated early in the cup. In the 2011/12 season they secured their second championship title in the club's history. The first national cup victory came in 2013 after a 1-0 win in the final against Čelik Nikšić .

In Poland they won 1-0, which wasn't enough to advance, as they lost 2-0 in the first leg. In the second qualifying round, games against the top Belgian club KRC Genk followed . The first leg in Genk they lost after a good game with 0-2.
