José de Santiago Concha Jiménez Lobatón
José de Santiago Concha Jiménez Lobatón (* 1760 ; † 1835 ) was a judge in Chile . From April to December 1801 he ruled temporarily as governor of the General Capitanate of Chile .
In 1795, at a comparatively young age, he was appointed judge ( oidor ) to the Real Audiencia of Chile , the colony's highest court. In this capacity, he took over the office of governor in April when Joaquín del Pino Sánchez de Rojas was recalled to Buenos Aires . In December 1801 he handed over the office to his fellow judge Francisco Tadeo Díez de Medina for a few weeks before the successor Luis Muñoz de Guzmán, appointed by King Charles IV, arrived in Santiago at the end of January 1802 and was able to take over the office.
Like the other judges of the Real Audiencia , Jiménez was deposed in April 1811 by the government junta under Juan Martínez de Rozas .
When the Spaniards took control of Chile again after the Battle of Rancagua during the Chilean War of Independence , Jiménez also resumed his work as a judge at the Real Audiencia . It lasted until 1818, when the independence movement again (and this time for good) took power.
