Fritz Baumann (lawyer)

Fritz Baumann (born April 9, 1894 in Seon , † October 7, 1992 in Aarau ) was a Swiss lawyer and politician and Federal Chairman of the Swiss Wandering Bird .

biography

Baumann attended the canton school in Aarau and studied law in Leipzig, Zurich and Lausanne from 1914 to 1918. From 1918 he worked as an advocate and notary, then in the Aargau justice administration and finally as a lawyer. From 1925 to 1931 he was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Aargau. From 1931 to 1961 he was chief judge in Aargau. From 1951 to 1953 he held the office of President of the Social Democratic Party of the Canton of Aargau.

As a member of an abstinent middle school association , he joined the Swiss Wandervogel in 1910. In 1915 he became a member of the Academic Freischar in Leipzig . From 1919 to 1921 he was federal chairman of the Swiss migratory bird. He is the author of a history of the Swiss migratory bird.

In 1930 Baumann founded the «Jurahaus-Verein Haselmatt». As a result of his initiative, the Haselhaus on the southern slope of the Homberg near Biberstein was created as a workers' accommodation and excursion destination. The Haselhaus was opened in 1933 after construction began in 1931. Today it belongs to the municipality of Biberstein and is being converted and managed by the “Verein Pfadiheim St. Georg Zürich” under building law.
