Fritz Bayerlein (painter)

Fritz Bayerlein (born January 9, 1872 in Bamberg ; † June 19, 1955 ibid) was a German landscape painter, church and history painter and plasterer.

Live and act

Bayerlein was initially a student at the Nuremberg School of Applied Arts from 1889 to 1893 and then studied with Professor Karl Raupp at the Munich Art Academy until 1897 . He lived in Munich until he returned to his hometown Bamberg in 1943.

Bayerlein specialized in history painting and landscape subjects in the Impressionist style. In 1939 he received the title of professor for painting from Adolf Hitler personally.

Politics and art

Fritz Bayerlein was a member of the NSDAP and is politically controversial. A political expression in line with the zeitgeist of the time cannot be seen in his pictures.
