The Erlenbach (or Erlbach ) is a left tributary of the Danube near Erbach (Danube) in the Alb-Donau district in Baden-Württemberg .
geography
course
The source of the small stream is about 0.4 km west of the outskirts of Ringingen in the Sätzeaeckern . From there it flows through the south of the village in an east-south-east direction, then turns to the south-east and runs between two pieces of forest roughly along the L 240. Still more or less close to this state road, it now flows eastwards through a brook and then to the outskirts of Erbach, where it takes up the similarly long but unstable water, Hangelbach , from the left and northwest , its most important tributary. After the Erlenbach crosses the settlement area of the city, crossed the Friedrichshafen – Ulm railway line and passed through the industrial area beyond it, it flows into the Danube from the left between quarry ponds near the sewage treatment plant.
The small town of Erbach is the largest town in the catchment area. It has developed in the last few centuries mainly on the Erlenbach and around the Schlossberg. After the planned inner city redevelopment, there will be green spaces, open spaces and a path on Erlenbach.
Catchment area
The stream has a catchment area of almost 40 km² in the Hochsträß , part of the natural area of the Mittlere Flachalb . There are comparatively few permanently open watercourses. In the subsurface, unlike in other parts of the Middle Alb, there is mainly Molasse on the other side of the Danube in the Alpine foothills. The largest tributary, Hangelbach, contributes almost half of the catchment area.
