Fritz Beinke

Fritz Beinke (born April 23, 1842 in Düsseldorf ; † December 16, 1907 there ) was a German genre painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Beinke attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1859 to 1867 , where he was a student of Andreas and Karl Müller , Karl and Wilhelm Sohn and Eduard Bendemann . He made several study trips to Northern Italy and Germany. In 1871 he won a prize at an exhibition in Cologne, and in 1879 he won first prize at an exhibition in Sydney . Beinke was a member of the artists' association Malkasten .

Beinke was a representative of genre painting at the Düsseldorf School. In his oeuvre, whose later works show the influence of Ludwig Knaus , folk scenes of village life with children and animals playing dominate. Portraits and Rhineland landscapes have also been preserved. Some of his motifs were used as prints. Paintings by him are represented in the collections of the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum , Cologne, the Theater Studies Collection University of Cologne and the Landesmuseum Mainz .
