Fritz Bernuth (born January 19, 1904 in Elberfeld , † May 22, 1979 in Wuppertal ) was a German sculptor and porcelain designer .

Bernuth, son of the painter Max Bernuth , made a name for himself above all through his animal and portrait sculptures. In 1918 he began his art studies at the Elberfeld School of Applied Arts and from 1919 to 1921 he completed an apprenticeship as a wood and stone sculptor in Wiedenbrück . He shared a studio with Gerhard Schliepstein from 1926 to 1945 . He designed numerous figures for the porcelain factories in Berlin , Fürstenberg , Meißen and Rosenthal , including the animal figure "Young monkey (Mantelpavian)" (1936).

From 1957 to 1959 the Wuppertal Fountain of Justice was restored with his help , the figures of which by the sculptor Bernhard Hoetger were destroyed by the National Socialist rulers as " degenerate art ".

In 1974 an exhibition of his life's work from 1919 to 1973 took place in the Von der Heydt Museum in Wuppertal .
