Fritz Broistedt (born February 26, 1893 in Meine , † August 7, 1972 in Winsen (Luhe) ) was a German politician of the DP , from 1959 of the CDU .

Life

Broistedt attended the Martino-Katharineum grammar school in Braunschweig . He then began to study agriculture in Göttingen, where he received his doctorate in 1925. From 1914 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a member of the Imperial Navy (from September 22, 1914 to March 1917 in the fourth sailor artillery department; from March 1917 to the end of the war in the 1st Battalion, 2nd Sailor Artillery Regiment); Broistedt was deputy fireworker dR or lieutenant dR of the sailor artillery (according to the report of July 13, 1916).

In the interwar period Broistedt belonged to the Christian National Peasant and Rural People's Party . From 1921 to 1935 he was the managing director of the Landbund. From 1922 to 1934 he was a member of the Winsen / Luhe Agricultural Association , where he was chairman in 1929; in Winsen he was also a member of the house and landowners association from 1925. From 1929 he was a member of the Volksbund for Germanness abroad . He had already joined the DRK before 1933 . From 1931 to 1935 he was a member of the Stahlhelm, Bund der Frontsoldaten (most recently as district leader). From 1933 to 1935 he was a member of the district peasantry as head of staff. From 1934 he was a member of the NSV , 1936 in the NS-Marinebund, from 1938 in the NS-Rechtsswahrerbund and from 1940 in the Reichsluftschutzbund (last as district group leader). On May 1, 1937, he joined the NSDAP (membership no. 5.767.313).

From 1940 to 1945 Broistedt took part in the Second World War as a member of the Navy (most recently with the rank of Corvette Captain ) . In 1944 he worked as a clerk at the Lüneburg military district command (according to a report from March 1, 1944).

After Germany surrendered, the British government in Winsen, under the leadership of Major Alan Seddon as British Resident Officer, appointed Fritz Broistedt as deputy head of the municipality on November 19, 1945, and from 1946 as deputy mayor of the municipality of Winsen. From 1947 to 1950 he was managing director of the Lower Saxony rural people. From 1948 to 1952 and from 1956 to 1971 he was elected mayor of Winsen. In 1952 he became district administrator of the Harburg district and a member of the German Party (DP).

On March 29, 1947 Broistedt was denazified as a nominal Nazi supporter in category IV (fellow travelers) . In the appeal process, this was changed to Category V (unencumbered) on October 7, 1948.

Broistedt was from May 6, 1951 to May 5, 1959 as a member of the DP / CDU parliamentary group, a member of the 2nd and 3rd electoral term in the Lower Saxony state parliament . From June 5, 1951 to May 5, 1955 he was a member of the Submissions Committee, from June 14, 1955 to December 4, 1957 in the Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs and from December 4, 1957 to May 5, 1959 in the Committee on Deep Sea Fisheries. After leaving the mayor's office, he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Winsen (Luhe) in 1971. His final resting place is in the forest cemetery in Winsen (Luhe).

In 2012, an application was made in the Winsen city council to revoke Broistedt's honorary citizenship because of his work in several Nazi organizations. However, this was rejected by a majority by the city council.
