Life

From 1885 to 1888 he attended the grand ducal teachers' college of Mecklenburg-Strelitz in Mirow . Until 1892 he was an assistant teacher in Carlow and then got a permanent position in Mirow. He taught geography, nature and history. In 1896 he switched to the community school in Schönberg, where he stayed until his retirement in 1933. He also taught at the Schönberg trade school. Like many teachers of his time, he was both organist and church musician at St. Laurentius (Schönberg) . From 1919 to 1944 he was the director of the Teutonia Choral Society .

In 1903 he joined the Heimatbund for the Principality of Ratzeburg, founded in 1901, and quickly became its determining personality. In 1904 he was elected secretary and administrator of the collection of the Heimatbund. In collaboration with Richard Wossidlo , he built up a comprehensive collection of the special folklore and culture of the Ratzeburg region . In 1925 he also became a member of the Mecklenburg-Strelitzer Association for History and Local History .

From 1931 the building at the church 8/9, from 1747 initially the location of the Küsterschule, from 1846 to 1929 girls' school, served as a local history museum and later a folklore museum in Schönberg . Buddin ran the museum until his death and saved the collection through the Second World War and the immediate post-war period by billeting refugees.

Buddin was the editor of the messages of the antiquity association for the Principality of Ratzeburg (1919-1944) and published numerous articles (the state bibliography Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania records 356) on Mecklenburg folklore and the city of Schönberg, especially in the Mecklenburg monthly .

The street Fritz-Buddin-Ring in Schönberg commemorates him .
