Fritz Cortolezis
Fritz Cortolezis (born February 21, 1878 in Passau ; † March 13, 1934 in Bad Aibling ) was a German conductor , opera director and composer.
Life
Fritz Cortolezis came to Munich in 1899 and studied composition with Ludwig Thuille and piano with Hans Bußmeyer at the Academy of Music until 1902. In 1903 he went to Schwerin as a solo coach, in 1904 as a choir conductor at the Berlin National Theater and in 1905 worked as a conductor in Regensburg and Nuremberg , among other places . From 1907 to 1912 he became court conductor of the Munich court orchestra at the instigation of Felix Mottl and took over the management of the teachers' choir and the academic choral society. From 1913 to 1925 he worked as court conductor at the Grand Ducal Badische Hofkapelle Karlsruhe and briefly as general music director of the Karlsruhe Bach Choir , then until 1929 also as general music director in Breslau and later in Baden-Baden . He was a close friend of the composer Richard Strauss . His students were u. a. Carl Orff and Vilma von Webenau .
His daughter Eva (1916–1999) was the wife of the long-standing Rhineland-Palatinate employer president Hans CW Hartmuth .
