Fritz Croner (born February 27, 1896 in Berlin ; died June 7, 1979 in Stockholm , Sweden) was a Swedish sociologist of German origin.

Life

Trained in sociology Croner was in 1921 Emil Lederer at the University of Heidelberg doctorate . He was head of the social policy department of the German Werkmeister Association (DWV) , a member of the SPD and on the board of the General Free Employees' Association . From 1926 to 1933 he was a lecturer in sociology and social policy at the German University of Politics . As a politically persecuted person, he emigrated to Sweden in June 1934 , where he had personal contacts. There he founded the Sociological Institute of Lund University in 1935 and headed it until 1939. He then taught at Stockholm University and worked for workers' organizations. Croner became a Swedish citizen in 1944 and did not return to Germany.

Employee sociology was a focus of his work . In contrast to Marxist theorists, Croner did not locate the employees in a social class, but referred to it as a social class . Croner defines social classes by means of similarities in economic conditions, social status and awareness of values. In contrast to blue-collar workers, in his functional theory, he ascribes four basic tasks to employees: a work management, an analytical-constructive, a mercantile and an administrative one.
