Fritz Gerth (born June 24, 1845 in Wiesbaden , † 1928 in Berlin ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Fritz Gerth received his first artistic training from his father, Johann Julius Gerth, who worked as a modeller and sculptor and carried out the stone carving work on the Waterloo monument in Wiesbaden. During his stay in Rome from 1875 to 1900, he was for many years deputy chairman of the German artists' association there . He then lived in Bad Homburg . According to the address books of 1900 and 1916, his studio was in the Fountain Hall; the casino has been in this building again since 1949 .

Exhibitions

Portrait busts and medallions by Fritz Gerth were on view at the summer exhibitions of 1888–1892 at the Royal Academy of Arts in London . Among them was a marble bust of the Rev. Charles Langton, which today stands in the parish church of St Peter & St Paul in Langton by Spilsby, England. Works by Fritz Gerth were also shown at the exhibition on the 50th anniversary of the Nassau Art Association in Wiesbaden in 1897.
