Fritz Goller

Fritz Goller (born November 20, 1914 in Deggendorf ; † July 22, 1986 there ) was a German composer .

Life

Fritz Goller was the nephew of the composer Vinzenz Goller and the son of the church musician Albuin Goller . He attended the Benedictine high school in Metten . Goller studied church music at the Academy of Music in Munich , among others with Joseph Haas . After his exams in 1936, he worked as an organist at the Deggendorf parish church of the Assumption of Mary . In 1939 Goller was called up for military service. He took part in the French and Russian campaigns. From 1944 to 1946 he was an American prisoner of war. After being a prisoner of war, he returned to Deggendorf and founded a chamber orchestra there in the first post-war years. After founding the parish of St. Martin in 1953, he worked as a church musician at St. Martin. He formed a new church choir in St. Martin, which he led for almost 30 years. At times Goller was also Deggendorfer town councilor and board member of the Deggendorfer Kulturverein. He worked as a journalist for several daily newspapers and specialist magazines.
