Fritz Karmasin

Fritz Karmasin (born January 30, 1930 in Käsmark ; † May 24, 2013 ) was an Austrian market researcher and owner of Karmasin Marktforschung - Österr. Gallup Institute .

Life

Karmasin was born in 1930 as the son of Franz Karmasin in Kežmarok (German Käsmark, Slovakia). After the war, he passed the Abitur at the Erasmus-Grasser-Gymnasium in Munich. He then studied at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , the University of World Trade (today: Vienna University of Economics and Business ) and the University of Vienna . In 1958 he received the degree of business administration degree from the University of Munich. In 1960 he received his doctorate from the University of World Trade in Vienna and in 1984 his habilitation from the University of Vienna. In 1989 he was appointed associate professor.

Since 1961 Karmasin was managing director of the Österr. Gallup Institute in Vienna and since 1970 lecturer at the Institute for Journalism and Communication Studies at the University of Vienna.

His wife Helene Karmasin and daughter Sophie Karmasin , who jointly founded the company Karmasin-Motivforschung , are also known as market researchers in Austria. His son Matthias Karmasin is a communication scientist at the University of Klagenfurt .
