Fritz Kirchhoff

Fritz Kirchhoff (born December 10, 1901 in Hanover , † June 25, 1953 in Hamburg ; actually Friedrich Georg Anton Kirchhoff ) was a German director and film producer .

Life

He studied literature and German at the universities in Munich, Frankfurt am Main and Göttingen. From 1927 he worked as a dramaturge and theater director in Halberstadt , Osnabrück, Augsburg and Stuttgart. In 1933 Kirchhoff staged in Berlin and then became senior director and chief dramaturge at the Wuppertal theaters .

He made his debut as a film director at UFA with a short film in 1936/1937 . Various entertainment films followed , including two propaganda films in 1941 with the attack on Baku and June 5 .

After the war ended, he founded the Berlin drama school “Der Kreis” in 1945 and his own film production company “Pontusfilm” in Hamburg in 1948. In the 1946 season he was the artistic director at the Schlosstheater in Potsdam. He left Potsdam after a year. When it came to film, Kirchhoff now limited himself entirely to his production activities, while he ran the drama school until his death. Then his wife took over the management of the school, then the former student Dietrich Lehmann .
