The drama school “Der Kreis” ( Fritz Kirchhoff School ) is the oldest state-recognized private drama school in Berlin . It is a vocational school for theater, radio, film and television.

It was founded in 1945 by the theater and film director Fritz Kirchhoff , led by Marianne Kirchhoff-Stoldt from 1953 to 1981, and is now directed by her former student Dietrich Lehmann . The school is recognized as a vocational school, is based on the curriculum of state universities and is eligible for BAföG . Training on one of the 26 training positions lasts three years.

As part of the practice-related training at the drama school, a "public evening" takes place after each semester. There, in preparation for the practice, the scenes, dances, pantomimes, songs, fencing activities worked out during the semester are shown on the stage in front of an audience. After completing the training, the exam in front of the ZAV (artist placement) takes place in the classrooms .

Suspension platform

The Schwebebühne, directed by Klaus Hoser, is the drama school's off-theater, which introduces successful projects of the graduating classes as guest performances into the Berlin theater scene. Previous productions are Maria Stuart by Dacia Maraini , Als mich die Lust ... (poet spectacle by Klaus Hoser), fear and misery of the Third Reich by Bertolt Brecht (directed by Klaus Hoser and Helfried Schöbel). The suspension stage has already made guest appearances at various venues, including Schiller Theater Werkstatt, carrousel ( Theater an der Parkaue ), Tiyatrom and Orphtheater .
