Friedrich "Fritz" Knaus (born February 14, 1888 in Leoben , Styria , † May 29, 1945 in Liezen ) was an Austrian politician ( NSDAP ), Lord Mayor and SA leader .

Live and act

After attending the elementary school in Leoben and the community school in Bruck an der Mur , Fritz Knaus was trained as a teacher at the teacher training institute in Graz. He then worked in this profession for three years before he joined the Austrian Federal Railways as a senior civil servant . For the latter profession, he was prepared by a railway officer course in Vienna .

In 1926 Knaus joined the NSDAP ( membership number 50.486), in which he initially acted as a local group leader in Trofaiach . After he left the Federal Railroad in 1930, Knaus worked full-time as the party's deputy Gauleiter in Gau Styria. Immediately after the NSDAP was banned in Austria, Knaus went to Germany with his family in 1934 , where he took on duties as a district inspector in Munich .

After the German invasion of Austria Knaus officiated as district captain of the Graz-Umgebung district . He later became mayor of Marburg . He was also a member of the National Socialist Reichstag from April 1938 until the end of the Nazi regime . In the SA Knaus, who was also the bearer of the golden party badge of the NSDAP , achieved the rank of standard leader.

Knaus committed suicide shortly after the war in the District Court Liezen suicide .
