Fritz Krauss (* July 7, 1906 ; † after 1963) was a German soccer player and soccer coach. With Wacker Leipzig he was in the finals of the German championship in 1929, in 1950/51 he was coach of the GDR master BSG Chemie Leipzig .

Athletic career

At the age of 20, Fritz Krauss joined SC Wacker Leipzig in 1926/27 , who played in the Gau Nordwestsachsen (renamed Gau Groß-Leipzig from 1927/28) during this time. In 1929 Krauss won the Central German Cup with SC Wacker Leipzig, who qualified for the finals of the 1928/29 German soccer championship. SC Wacker met FC Schalke 04 in the first round and, with the help of Fritz Krauss, was eliminated from the competition after a 1: 5 defeat. In 1932 and 1933 Krauss became Gaumeister with Wacker, which in 1933 led to promotion to the newly introduced Gauliga Sachsen . In this, one of several top soccer classes in German soccer, FC Wacker and Krauss held out until 1937. In 1940 they once again achieved promotion to the Gauliga for one season, after which the Wackeraner played in the second-class Leipzig district class. There Krauss helped the team to the district championship in 1942 and 1943.

After the Second World War , Fritz Krauss first played from 1946 to 1948 for SG Leipzig-Gohlis Nord , the successor to SC Wacker. In 1948 he was runner-up with the Gohlisers in the Leipzig soccer district. Then Krauss became a trainer at SG Leipzig Leutzsch . Under the name of ZSG Industrie , the people of Leipzig came third in the Saxon football championship under Krauss in 1948/49. Thus the team was qualified for the first season of the newly founded East German Zone League (later DS-Oberliga, GDR-Oberliga ). Under Krauss, ZSG Industrie reached ninth place out of fourteen teams at the end of the season. At the beginning of the 1950/51 season, the ZSG was converted into the Betriebsportgemeinschaft (BSG) Chemie Leipzig, and Fritz Krauss initially continued to coach the league team. By the 15th matchday he led the team to second place in the league. Two days later, on November 28, 1950, Krauss gave up his coaching post. After that, the coaching position remained vacant for several weeks, and some chemistry players took over the training. In March, Hans Höfer first became a trainer, followed in May by Rolf Kukowitsch , who finally secured the championship title for BSG Chemie Leipzig.

In the following football season, 45-year-old Fritz Krauss did not take on a coaching position in higher-class football and did not appear there later. In the 1950s and early 1960s he was the coach of the district league teams Traktor Delitzsch and Motor Gohlis Nord (4th league).
