Fritz Krisse

Fritz Krisse (* 1957 in Dillkreis ) is a double bass player from Detmold . He has released several albums with various musical groups and composes for radio and documentary films.

Live and act

After graduating from high school in 1977, he attended the Detmold Academy of Music . There he studied classical double bass with Professor Walter Meuter. During his studies he was a student of Sigi Busch and Eddie Gomez . In 1983 he finished his studies with the artistic maturity examination.

In addition to appearing at various jazz festivals, he worked on productions for WDR , HR and Radio France .

In 1984 he founded the "Fritz Krisse Trio" with the guitarist Wolfram Seifert and the drummer Willio Lindfors. The saxophonist Tony Lakatos expanded the trio into a quartet. With the project "The double bass as a solo instrument through the ages" he has been giving concerts since 1991 and plays both classical solo literature and jazz pieces in one program. 1994 Krisse bassist in " Benny Bailey Quartet". In 1995 concert recordings were made for WDR and DeutschlandRadio Berlin . This year Krisse composed and produced music for various documentary films for WDR, SWF and Arte . Among other things, “Flight into death” and the three-part production “Das weite Land”. A trio with Frank Wunsch and Lee Konitz emerged . At the beginning of 1998 this line-up revived as a quartet with drummer Douglas Sides. In 1996 the "Fritz Krisse Quartet" was reorganized with Tony Lakatos, Bob Degen and Douglas Sides. The album "Soulcolours" was created. In the same year a concert was recorded by the WDR. In 1997 the CD "Das Microphone" was released with Martin Classen , Georg Rox and Douglas Sides. In recent years he has appeared in the Al Foster quartet and in a duo with Florian Weber , which since 2009 has also been expanded to a trio with Claudio Puntin .

He also heads the jazz department of the Johannes Brahms School in Detmold.
