Fritz Kukuk

Fritz Kukuk (born June 9, 1905 in Himmighausen (today part of Nieheim ); † December 24, 1987 there ) was a Low German author and poet.

After attending the Rector's School in Steinheim , he studied for two semesters at the Agricultural School in Brakel , after which he worked as an agricultural apprentice on an estate in Marienmünster. Later he was employed in a commercial profession in Dortmund before he took over the family business. Since 1934 he wrote mainly poetry and gained national fame with his works. In addition, his work also found international recognition: Fritz Kukuk u. a. granted the honor of being nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature by the Nestor of Swedish German Studies in 1980. Fritz Kukuk volunteered as Consul de Mexico for Westphalia.
