Fritz Scharfenstein (born June 14, 1925 in Aue , Saxony ) is a former German trade unionist ( FDGB ) and politician ( SED ) in the GDR. He was Minister for Guidance and Control of District and District Councils .

Life

Scharfenstein, the son of a tool grinder, attended elementary and commercial school and completed a commercial apprenticeship from 1941 to 1943. From 1943 to 1945 he did military service in the Wehrmacht . After 1945 he was employed as a construction worker and commercial clerk in Zwickau and Wilkau-Haßlau .

In 1945 he joined the KPD and in 1946 the SED and the FDGB. From 1948 to 1952 he was secretary of the FDGB district board in Zwickau. In 1950 he studied at the SED state school in Saxony . From 1950 to 1952 he was a member of the FDGB state committee for Saxony. Between 1952 and 1960 he completed a distance learning course in domestic trade economics at the Berlin School of Economics, with a degree in economics. From 1958 to 1962 he was deputy chairman of the Dresden district economic council and from 1962 to 1963 provisional chairman of the Dresden district planning commission and member of the SED district management. From 1963 to 1965 he was deputy chairman of the State Planning Commission . From December 1965 to November 1971 he was Minister for the Guidance and Control of District and District Councils. He then worked as head of the instructor department at the First Deputy Chairman of the GDR Council of Ministers .
