Friedrich Spill

Friedrich "Fritz" Spill (born July 5, 1872 in Eisenberg , East Prussia , † 1945 in Praust near Danzig ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and President of the People's Day of the Free City of Danzig (1928–1930).

Life

Spill was the son of a master carpenter and worked as a carpenter after attending elementary school and until 1913. Until 1913 he was a board member of the branch and in September 1913, until the Nazis came to power in 1933, he was director of the woodworkers' association in Danzig. From 1914 to 1918 he did military service in the First World War .

In 1914 at the latest he was a board member of the SPD and vice chairman of the district board of the woodworkers' association. From 1920 to 1923 he was a city councilor in Gdansk. From 1920 to 1933 he was a member of the People's Day, from January 1921 to November 1923 as 1st Vice President and Chairman of the SPD parliamentary group and from January 1928 to December 1930 as President of the Danzig Volkstag.
