Wilhelm Reinhard (theologian)

Wilhelm Reinhard (born September 4, 1860 in Neuwied , † December 17, 1922 in Stettin ) was a German Protestant theologian and politician. He acted for the Evangelical Church of the older provinces of Prussia a . a. as general superintendent of the ecclesiastical province of West Prussia (1911–1920) and the western district of the ecclesiastical province of Pomerania (1921–1922), and as president of the Constituent Assembly and the People's Day of the Free City of Danzig (1920–1921).

Life

After attending grammar school in Neuwied , Reinhard studied theology in Halle , Leipzig and Bonn . Reinhard was a member of the Schwarzburg connection Nordalbingia Leipzig .

After working as provincial vicar of the Kurmark and assistant preacher at the Berlin Cathedral , he worked in the Inner Mission from 1886 to 1888 , until 1895 he was pastor in Paplitz near Baruth, before he moved to Freystadt in West Prussia as city superintendent and first pastor . In 1899 he became General Superintendent of the Province of West Prussia. On the anniversary of the Reformation in 1917, the theological faculty of the Albertus University in Königsberg awarded him an honorary doctorate in theology.

From 1907 Reinhard was a member of the General Synod. He sat in the Prussian state assembly and in 1920 was the list leader of the German National People's Party (DNVP), a member of the People's Day in Danzig .
