Fritz Walz

Fritz Walz also Fritz Walz-Eidenbenz (born June 5, 1858 in Nuremberg , Bavaria ; † March 16, 1944 in Locarno , Ticino ; authorized to reside in Stallikon , Gamlikon district and since 1915 in Zurich ) was a Swiss publisher and editor of German origin.

Life

Born in Nuremberg, Fritz Walz, son of Michael Walz and Barbara, born Kusterer, got a job as assistant editor at the Neue Zürcher Zeitung around 1880 . Walz, who subsequently worked as an editor in the commercial section, left the company at the end of 1881 and went to Germany, where he completed further training courses in various publishing houses.

In 1893 Fritz Walz founded the Tages-Anzeiger for the city and canton of Zurich together with the German newspaper publisher Wilhelm Girardet (1838-1918) . Fritz Walz, co-owner of the same, was there until 1923 as publisher and editor-in-chief . After Girardet, Walz & Co. had been converted into a stock corporation in 1912 , Walz, who was married to Charlotte, daughter of Wilhelm Eidenbenz, from Öhringen in Württemberg , was represented on the board of directors until his death in 1944 .
