Fritz Winkhaus

Fritz Winkhaus (born January 18, 1865 in Oeckinghausen , † October 9, 1932 in Essen ) was a German mining manager and lobbyist.

Life

Fritz Winkhaus - the fifth of eleven children - came from a traditional entrepreneurial family in the Sauerland region of Brandenburg . He studied mining at the University of Marburg, where he became a member of the Corps Teutonia in 1884 . After completing his studies, he completed his legal clerkship and was initially a Prussian mountain assessor and mountain ridge . In 1894 he was the head of the mining test section in the brewing community .

From 1895 he was mining director in the private sector at the Cologne Mining Association in Altenessen . Under his leadership, the Cologne Mining Association merged with the Neu-Essen mining company. From 1912 he was general director of the resulting Cologne-Neuessener Bergwerkverein . In 1919 he merged his company with the Radbod colliery . From 1920 Winkhaus was in charge of the technical and commercial management of the Radbod mine. Shaft 5, sunk in 1923, was named the Winkhaus shaft in his honor. In 1930 he played a key role in the merger of his company with Hoesch. Since then he has been a member of the Board of Management of Hoesch AG . In addition, he took on numerous supervisory board mandates.

Winkhaus were active in various political interest positions. He was a member of the board of the Essen Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Between 1919 and 1923 he was a city councilor in Essen.

In the summer of 1917 he was involved in a conversation between leading entrepreneurs and trade unionists to clarify the relationship between capital and labor.

From 1925 to 1927 he was chairman of the Association for Mining Interests in the Dortmund District Mining Authority . As such, he was also the chairman of the mining association . From 1928 he belonged to the Ruhrlade . He was also represented on the board of the Reich Association of German Industry .
