The company was founded in 1951 by Fritz Winter and is family-owned. The company's headquarters are in Stadtallendorf (Hessen). The company has another production site in Laubach and a center for casting processing in Nieder-Ofleiden (City of Homberg / Ohm).

The expertise of the Fritz Winter iron foundry lies in the development, manufacture and sale of cast parts made of gray cast iron , ductile iron , cast iron with vermicular graphite and varifer . The main products include cylinder blocks and heads as well as brake disks and drums . Customers include manufacturers of cars , commercial vehicles , engines , transmissions , axles , hydraulics and heating technology .

A range of cast iron is produced in the qualities GG15-30, EN-GJL-150 to -300 - unalloyed to high-alloy -, cast iron with spheroidal graphite (GGG40-70, EN-GJS-400-18RT to 700-2) and cast iron with Vermicular graphite (GGV 400-500) in the weight classes 1.0 kg to 3,000 kg.

Another focus is the mechanical processing for commercial vehicle and car brake disks / and brake drums. With approx. 3,700 employees in three plants, the melting capacity is approx. 1,000,000 tons of cast per year.
