Fritz Wollny

Fritz Wollny (born December 2, 1891 in Jauer , Province of Silesia , † December 4, 1965 in Potsdam-Babelsberg ) was a German politician ( SPD / SED ). He earned services in building up the archive system in the GDR .

Life

In 1906 Wollny joined the administrative service at the Jauer District Office, where he worked as a registrar until 1911. From 1912 to 1933 he was a member of the Brieske parish council and worked there from 1919 to 1933 as parish councilor. In 1919 he joined the SPD.

After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists, Wollny was arrested in 1933 and sentenced to 18 months in prison. After his release, he worked for various insurance companies.

On April 28, 1945 he was appointed mayor of Brieske by the Soviets , after which he was deputy district administrator of Calau , where he chaired the denazification commission , among other things . From 1946 he was a member of the SED from March 1948 to May 1950 as the successor to Paul Hentschel, head of the general administration department in the Ministry of the Interior of Brandenburg . From May 1950 to July 1952 he headed the State Administration Headquarters in the Ministry of the Interior of Brandenburg. In 1952 he became head of the Brandenburg Archives Inspection and became director of the Brandenburg State Main Archives . From 1953 he was first a consultant at the German Central Archives in Potsdam, then from August 1954 a consultant for archives at the Potsdam District Council and finally in 1956 until he retired in 1961, he was a consultant in the State Archives Administration of the GDR.
