Fritz Zerritsch the Elder
Fritz Zerritsch (born February 26, 1865 in Vienna ; † November 30, 1938 there ) was an Austrian sculptor .
Life
Zerritsch studied at the Vienna School of Applied Arts with Otto König and then worked for eight years in Viktor Tilgners ' studio . His son Fritz Zerritsch the Younger , born in 1888, worked as a painter. After Tilgner died in 1896, Zerritsch took over his workshop and completed some of Tilgner's unfinished works, including the monument to Hans Makart in Vienna's Stadtpark , which was unveiled on June 13, 1898. Zerritsch lived in the Viennese district of Döbling and lived at Himmelstrasse 33. After his death he was buried in an honorary grave of the city of Vienna at the Grinzinger Friedhof (group 2, number 41). In his honor, the connection route between Kahlenbergerstrasse and Armbrustergasse in Zerritschgasse was named in the Döblingen district of Heiligenstadt .
